Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on the 19th of January. 19. 1946, into a poor family with 12 kids at one point, realized that she could escape suffering through her imaginative mind. The songs she wrote were composed before she knew how to write and read. The guitar that she first received was presented to her when she turned eight. She started singing at an Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. Her first album was recorded within the same calendar year on Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. Although she became a local star while in high school, her dreams were greater. She relocated to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for women to sing for his television show that was syndicated approximately the same at the same time. Parton took the offer and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. However, it wasn't until 1974 when she made the decision to quit Wagoner's show because the success of her solo albums such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts.
